Introduction

Artificial Intelligence is everywhere right now. From chatbots to content generation, AI—specifically Large Language Models (LLMs)—is reshaping how businesses and individuals work. I want to be upfront: I use AI in my business and this very podcast. It helps me create intros, outros, and promotional material. But here’s the key—I don’t let it replace me. I use it as a partner, not a substitute.

In this post, I’ll share my perspective on why AI is more good than bad, how it compares to past technological shifts like the Industrial Revolution, and why businesses and individuals must adapt if they want to thrive. I’ll also touch on the risks: misuse, unhealthy human attachments to AI, and the temptation to let AI speak for you instead of letting your real voice come through.

The Industrial Revolution Parallel

When the Industrial Revolution began, it brought disruption and fear. Machines replaced certain jobs, and entire industries had to adapt. But it also created new industries, new opportunities, and higher overall productivity. The same is happening with AI today.

We’ve always had this cycle: innovation creates discomfort, then adaptation creates progress. Yes, some roles will be displaced. But just as people once moved from farm work to factory work, and then to office work, today’s workers will shift into new roles that didn’t exist a decade ago—AI trainers, prompt engineers, and tech-enabled consultants.

The lesson? Don’t fight the tide. Learn to swim in it.

The Good: How AI Empowers Us

Productivity: AI can draft, summarize, and brainstorm in seconds, giving you more time for strategy and execution.

Support: AI can handle routine tasks—like FAQs or scheduling—so you can focus on higher-value work.

Creativity Boost: Stuck on content ideas? AI can help you break through writer’s block.

Accessibility: Small businesses now have tools once reserved for large corporations.

For me, AI means I can keep this podcast running smoothly and still dedicate time to my clients at Alex Custom Tech. It’s not doing my job—it’s supporting me in doing it better.

The Risks and Misuses

AI, like anything powerful, can be misused.

Misinformation: AI can generate text that looks polished but is factually wrong.

Spam: Some flood the internet with AI-generated junk content.

Bias: Since AI learns from us, it reflects our flaws. If we’re messy, it will be messy.

Human Attachments: There are already stories of people building relationships with AI chatbots. For some, that fills a void. For others, it creates unhealthy substitutes for real connection. AI should never replace human relationships, but it will likely become a substitute for some—especially introverts or people seeking control over their interactions.

As an introvert myself, I understand the appeal. Talking to AI doesn’t feel exposing in the same way as opening up to another person. There’s comfort in that. But even so, it’s vital to keep boundaries. AI can support—it should not become the foundation of your emotional world.

How Businesses Should Use AI (Responsibly)

The temptation in business is to let AI do the talking—automated sales pitches, generic blogs, promises that sound too good to be true. That’s not how I use it.

Here’s how I believe businesses should approach AI:

AI is the assistant, not the salesperson. It should help you polish ideas, not create false ones.

Your voice matters. The right prompts make sure you come through in your marketing, promotions, and communication.

Be transparent. Don’t hide your use of AI. Let clients know when it helps you, but also show them your real expertise.

No false promises. AI can draft, but you are responsible for making sure your message is honest and clear.

For example: I run Alex Custom Tech. If you need help, you can call me at 855-668-6315 or email info@alexcustomtech.com. That’s me—not AI—standing behind the service.

Final Takeaway

AI is here to stay. Like the machines of the Industrial Revolution, it will displace some roles but create others. It reflects humanity—good and bad—and its impact depends on how we use it.

Used well, AI is a partner. It saves time, enhances creativity, and helps us focus on what matters. Misused, it becomes noise, misinformation, or even a substitute for human connection.

The responsibility is on us: adapt, set boundaries, and make yourself marketable in the new economy. With the right approach, AI won’t replace you—it will empower you.
